Rival BHS and CHS Swim Teams Unite to Take the Plunge!
Come one, come all to the Polar Bear Plunge, December 31, 2013
Burleson, TX – For the first time ever, Burleson High School and Centennial High School swim teams, along with USA Swimming club team, Sigma Swimming, are joining forces to host The Burleson Polar Bear Plunge. The icy end-of-the-year fund-raiser is set to take place at the BRiCk on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 8 a.m. to noon. The event is family-friendly, open to the public and features musical entertainment, food and children’s activities. Funds raised will go toward establishing two scholarships (one at each high school) and the purchase of much-needed equipment at the BRiCk where the swim teams practice.
An entry fee of $30 entitles a participant to take the Polar Bear Plunge and, for braving the freezing water, to receive an event t-shirt, goody bag, and bragging rights! An early bird discount of $10 is available on or before November 15th. Registration is available online at http://burlesonpolarbearplunge.athlete360.com.
The Polar Bear Plunge is a great opportunity for businesses in the community to support the efforts of Burleson’s two rival high schools working together for a good cause. Sponsorships in the amount of $1,000 and $250 are available. Both levels include recognition on the website and social media, and the sponsor’s name on the back of the 2013 Polar Bear Plunge t-shirts. This is a great opportunity for people of Burleson to support our swim teams. These young men and women are some of the hardest working athletes in the BISD athletic department . Thanks for all your support Coach Phil Anderson. Athletic Director. BISD
BHS and CHS swim teams compete in District 8-4A. Both BHS and CHS have made significant strides in the past year to become contenders in this highly-competitive district. Sigma Swimming is the fastest growing aquatics program in Tarrant, Johnson, and Parker Counties and has swimmers training at the BRiCk five days a week. Sigma Swimming is sanctioned by USA Swimming, which is the National Governing Body of the sport on swimming in the U.S.A. Several of the BHS and CHS swim team members also swim with Sigma Swimming.
